Challenge — Kimba, a vibrant community on the Eyre Peninsula, needed to attract trades and essential services due to promised future infrastructure to the region. The most pressing issue was recruiting a resident doctor, which the town had been without for years.

Strategy
The WO team worked closely with the Economic Development Officer and frequently visited Kimba. WO immersed themselves with the town and its people, and was in awe of their strong community spirit and friendliness, which became the inspiration for the video campaign.
WO created an animated storyboard to help the local council visualise the campaign’s tone and narrative, ensuring it celebrated the community without relying on stereotypes. Locals enthusiastically participated in the production, even during the busy harvest season, fostering local pride reflected in the new tagline, “That’s Our Kimba.”

The campaign tagline was adopted by the locals and even by the local council itself.

Locals came from all corners of the town to participate in the filming of their ad.
Outcome
The campaign instilled camaraderie and ownership among residents – crucial during a time of political division over a nearby radioactive waste facility. Upon launch, it garnered attention on Channel 10 News and 7’s Sunrise, and was praised for its creativity and authenticity. The tagline became a local catchphrase, and was adopted by the council.
The campaign generated numerous inquiries and was successful in securing a resident doctor.

WO captured the essence of our community and made the campaign memorable and personal. We are proud of the result and how our community united to tell our story."
